Happy New Year - My New Start

The technical nature of the Program used to write the Bible Program has required a few server changes in the past. Some Servers were not technically suitable, others lacked technical advice, and my own lack of Web-management skills also played a part.
I am praying that this is the final home for the website. The New PapyrusRead has a brand new Server, that promises to fully manage any difficulties for me, so I am optimistic.

The costs have been dramatically reduced, which allows me to afford to operate independently of Donations & Advertising, so all Adds & PayPal Links have been removed.
If I missed any, just ignore them for now, as they will be removed when I find them.

Technical difficulties have been the main reason for the many names, like:
SliderBible.com, Bigverse.com, 3i3le.com, and others.
Irritants such as difficulty for some Servers to transfer Domain names has also led to new domain names.

So, for now, a fresh start that will take time to finish.
In the interim, the Brand New Site, with the Brand New Look will be up and running at http://www.papyrusread.com. (fingers crossed - no pun)

I have been pointed to a Fully Managed Webspace, in America, at ⅓ the cost of an un-managed webspace in Australia. I really did want to keep it local, but, the site must go-on.

Please help. 

I have a FREE online bible that needs a home. I need a Managed VPS that costs the same as an un-managed site. I can not afford to keep things going. With a self-managed VPS, I am a bit like Medusa, the minute I look at it, it turns to stone ! The Bible Program works, but it needs a Web-nerd. Please Help.

Did I ever tell you about the time that I was in Papunya ?  A little settlement way out beyond Alice, and heading for Darwin. It was a stinking hot day, and the Air Cooler was in overdrive. I looked out into the backyard, and there wasn’t anything happening there, which was normal. I noticed that water was pouring out the overflow of the Air Cooler, onto the ground, and then bouncing up into the air, disappearing as the hot sun ate it. 

I thought, “Ross”, as is what I am accustomed to calling myself. “Ross, that’s a shameful waste of water in this Green-Based ecology – we should fix this leak, or put this water to good use”.  Then I had an inspirational thought that would change the course of the day, which was, at this stage, a substantial amount of time. 

First, I dug a big hole in the backyard, about a meter by about two meters – like an egg, from a chooks ovalie. Then I dug a channel from the overflow to the hole, now known as Dam Alone, being the only dam for a few hundred kilometers, Dam Alone seemed appropriate.

Anyway, the water flowed in a raging tiny torrent down to Dam Alone, and got sucked into the dirt like a Dyson on heat. Don’t ask me to elaborate.  The problem was solved the following day by the procurement of some plastic sheets, which were used to line the bottom of Dam Alone, and held fast with large rocks. This, in itself, was a feat, as finding large rocks in our backyard took several expeditions.

So, now Dam Alone had the sheets.

It turned out that the evaporation rate out of Dam Alone was equal to the Overflow In, so we had reached a Status Quo. Now what ?

We needed a boat ! It just so happens that I had two Nestles Choc-Top cylinders (little plastic cylinders.)

The boat kept leaking, and duck diving, so after much arguing & re-design we (I call myself we when we argue) decided to call the boat a submarine. Many hours were spent bent over the bathtub trying to get the submarine to sit flat in the water, but eventually persistence prevailed. 

All submarines need turrets, which is where the sailors come up to breath. The Top of one of the Choc-Tops fitted the purpose perfectly. Unfortunately the submarine was now top heavy, and kept rolling over like Flipper (a dolphin). Back to the bathtub.

Resources were a bit slim, so the sub had to be weighted with a few metal washers. Too many and it sunk, too few and it rolled all over the place. My aching back influenced me to migrate to the kitchen sink (wife not home ;) )

Eventually I got to the stage of adding a UHF Aerial, made out of a rivet. Sailors need to communicate with the shore so that they can order Beer and Pizza.

The next day was the big launch. I whacked it on the hull with a 70ml bottle of Bundaberg Rum, and christened it the HMAS Choc Top.

 But, if you're not interested, then here's a little gem from the past. I was way outback (Australia) in a place called Papunya, didn't know anybody, alone, and looking for something to do. It was a very Hot Day, so I re-diverted the drainage water from the water cooler into a freshly dug hole, lined with plastic & Rocks. The evaporation rate was almost equal to the water flowing in from the river that fed it (The Water Cooler). The hole eventually became a lake, which just begged for a submarine. Two Choc-Top Containers, two washers, a Rivet, some Glue Gun Ballast, and a lot of experimentation in the kitchen sink formed the mighty HMAS Choc Top. I had my Submarine. It took a while to balance it , so that it would sit Flat in the water, at the exact depth, and Voila ! 

The Lord works in mysterious ways :)

I have re-arranged it's loading sequence so that it loads unimaginably quicker now, apparently it was getting confused, and throwing it's little legs in the air.

Greetings ardent Bible Readers ! The Deluxe Bible, or the 1010bible, is back online.
We are experiencing some teething problems with the technology, but I'm game to persist.
The Daily Devotionals are working well. It is a good idea to load a Bible Before reading the Devotional, so that you will be given the matching Bible Texts.

I made $0.86 last month in advertising revenue, so this is not a career change, it's a 24/7 (OK, 12/7) passion;
So... please spread the Site address, so that other people may get the benefit of my efforts. Just for a laugh, I also have a Donations Page, but I really don't expect anyone to use it, as I went into this full-time as a Ministry, and not Money. But I do need an audience to encourage more Readers.

I have been trying to get rid of the Memory Leak, and I think that it is better. Just gotta listen to God earlier, next time. I have memory leaks all the time, but when a program has them all the forgotten memories just sit on the Internet Computer until it is full, then it rolls over onto it's back, kicks it's legs up into the air, and stays there until someone takes away all it's cares. A bit like going to Computer Heaven, eh ? Only Joking, there's no Computer Heaven, anyway....

I am using a new Programming System,

 and trying to figure it all out. This is my first Online Bible Program, learning a new System, that is itself still being developed, so it has been a slow road. 

The concept 

is, I think, good, in that it provides a free fully formatted Bible  (colours, text size, fonts, etc). 

The user 

is under control at all times. The Bible can be saved to a Browser Tab, then to your Hard Drive. Don't worry, by that stage it is impossible to have memory leaks, so you won't come home one day to find your Computer lying on the floor.

Great for people 

who want, or need, Larger Text to read, like me, and Great for people who like to add a bit of colour to their Bible, so that the reading is easier. 

Anyway, I'll stop rambling, and just say:

Great Service this morning !

My Wife & I went to a Salvation Army Service today, just for something completely different. It was low key, warm, and pulsing with Community Feeling. A great Church of God's Practical People. They live to give. Santa's elves on steroids ! And I say that in the most respectful way, and, no, I don't really go for The Santa Thing. AND they are Christians to the core !
I wish I was that dedicated - to physically go out into the real world and help people that others normally forget, or even look down upon, with nothing but a few blankets and God's Guidance. Humbling might be a good word, or inspiring. I'd recommend a visit to the Sallies to anyone, just for the experience.

Please make them your number one prayer for today.

Loose some of that Doctrinal Fat, quickly and easily. Let God be your study guide. I'm not against man made studies, at all, but the answers you get from following someone else's reasoning is someone else's point of view. This can be invaluable, helpful, spiritually rewarding, and well worth while. You can get quick answers to all of your questions. Going to Church is great ! BUT actually reading the Word, with or without any direction, will lead you down the path of what you need really need right now in your life. God wants YOU - one on one, and not through anyone but Jesus.

We all get a little bit lazy, at times, or even a bit squeezed for time. But do we really need to fatten up with more cutting edge revelations ? Just read the Bible, any Bible. Yes, you could read my 1010Bible, but, if you have an online or offline Bible that you prefer - Then read that one !

Exciting News ! The new HTML Bible is almost ready. It is so close that you can use it ! The design is traditional, with heaps of Languages and Versions.

I went to pray at the christianprayercentre.com today. You have to give them money before they will prey on you. They don't tell you that prayer is a consumable until you are ready to hit the Pray button. And the terms are strictly "No Pay, No Pray". How sad, how sick.

The Main Help Button is now linked to Help. I didn't change it when the 1010 Bible changed servers. It's getting better all the time !

Well, The 1010 Bible sort of works with iPads. The thing is that you have to find your Chapter & Verse, and then Click on the "Copy_Page" button. A new tab will open with a chapter set up to your liking, and all is well. Now, getting to the stage where you can hit the 'Copy_Page" Button may be a tad tricky. Well, it was designed purely for the Desktop. :)

The gradient effects in Slider Bible were not recognised by Windows Explorer, so I have changed the looks to suit as many Browsers and operating systems as possible.

As far as I can tell:

Most Browsers on Windows, Mac & Linux Desktops (and Laptops) don't have a problem with Slider Bible.
Although Slider Bible was designed for Desktop Browsers, Android also appears to work well, but
Windows Mobiles and iPhones / iPads etc have issues.

I have added Google Translate to the Main Site and to Slider Bible.

Made a few improvements to Word Grinder.

Now much more compatible with iPads. A special iPad Link has been added.
Quicker and better Font Size Change.
A Brand New Help System has now been integrated.

Churches are a great place to learn, reflect, and socialise. They can prepare you spiritually before approaching God, and they guide you in a good spiritual direction during your walk with God.
Praying on your own is a whole new ball game. You pray about what affects you, how others affect you. It's a  personal experience that you willingly enter into with God. One to one.
To me, the same holds true for reading the Bible. It's a personal experience. That's why it is as it is. It's for reading. The basic search engines help you to find things, but the main function of the program is to help you to set up a reading environment that is comfortable to use, so that you can Read.

BIGverse is still suffering. She has come down with 'VPS Deficient Syndrome', and has to be housed in her very own private eAccommodation. It all began when she started to refuse to share Port with others. Not long after that she just froze up. I was devastated. This was to be the start of many hours of intensive therapy, and consultation with eSpecialists, which ended in the plan to move her to her own private eRoom. It's the only way to give her the Dedicated VPS Therapy that she desperately needs. 
She has just turned three, and there has always been a bit of a Language Barrier. Her Third Party Provider was not very good when it came to Catering for her Basic needs.
Anyway, I digress, she's re-locating as we speak, so I am hopeful that her recovery will be a High Bandwidth one.
While she was under I gave her some Plastic eSurgery, and a full Cleansing Program, as well as Growth Hormones, and anti-bionics for the bugs.
